THYROID

Low thyroid is one of Dr. Yates' favorite conditions to treat because the results can be quick, dramatic and life-changing for so many patients. Dr. Yates believes in the importance of testing all the thyroid hormones in clients that exhibit signs of low thyroid symptoms: Too often doctors only test Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in clients and we have found many times where this has left low thyroid patients undiagnosed.

Dr. Yates also likes to focus on the other elements that can affect thyroid function such as the balance of cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, and certain mineral deficiencies such as iodine, iron, and selenium. As always, it is necessary to see the body as a whole to get optimal results.

Thyroid Program:

1) Assess thyroid symptoms: Fatigue, sensitive to cold, difficulty losing weight, not feeling refreshed upon waking, brittle nails

2) Test Thyroid TSH, Free T3, Free T4.  TPO and RT3 can be tested in more in-depth cases

3) Test temperature 3x/day for 3 days (Ideal temperature is 37C)

A) In cases where there are thyroid symptoms, and the temperature and lab testing results are within the "optimal range" (not just the regular Canadian range), then the treatment will include Weight Loss Support Tincture (Thyroid herbs, Adrenal herbs, and Iodine), plus Super Mineral (for Zinc and Selenium)

B) In cases where there are thyroid symptoms and the client is out of the optimal thyroid range, then Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT) can also be added to the program. Starting with a low dose and gradually increasing every 6 weeks to reach the optimal range.

C) Finally, in cases where the client is on Synthroid/Eltroxin but still has all the symptoms of low thyroid, we will test the thyroid and then replace the Synthroid/Eltroxin with NDT to help balance T3 levels and reduce thyroid symptoms.
